Lovenkrands has made just one Premier League start this season. Newcastle are keen to keep the forward at the club, but the 31-year-old is ready to leave St James’ Park.
He told TV.dk: “I’ve talked to the coach and he would like to extend my contract, but I cannot wait for that.
“In January, I can talk to whoever I want, so my agent is working to find me another club.”
Lovenkrands’ contract with the Magpies is set to expire at the end of the season, but the forward has hinted that he could leave Newcastle in the January transfer window.
“There are lots of things I’d like, but I’m keeping my cards close to my chest,” he added.
“There have been talks with the club about an extension, but it’s not something that happens before January or next summer, so right now we’re looking for other options.”
