Miccoli keen on new Palermo deal

Miccoli joined Palermo in 2007 after two seasons on loan at Benfica and his contract with the Rosanero expires in 2010.

“The fact I am still popular at Benfica means I did well and I am proud of that,” Miccoli said in La Gazzetta dello Sport.

“The two years in Lisbon were the most important of my career. We reached the quarter-finals of the Champions League, knocking out Manchester United and Liverpool and I scored with an overhead kick at Anfield.”

“I have a great rapport with President Maurizio Zamparini,” he continued.

“I am hoping to speak to him as soon as possible regarding an extension to my contract.

“Palermo is my city now, Zamparini knows where to find me and I am staying calm.”
