Pearce is set to remain as England Under 21 coach for a further two years.
“I’ve agreed my contract with the FA in principle,” Pearce said. “It’s a case of signing it. It might be signed this week when Trevor (Sir Trevor Brooking, FA director of football development) comes out.
“Do I enjoy my job? Yes I do. I think it is a fantastic job. Would I like to stay for another two years? Yes I would. In principle we have agreed finances. As far as I’m concerned it’s done.
“I’ve never been one to tout my name around and chase jobs here there and everywhere. If I’m happy in my work place, I stay there. I did that as a player and will do the same as a manager.”
