Pompey boss hails Boateng

Hart insists he does not regret signing the 22-year-old in a £4million deal in August, despite being warned about the midfielder.

He said in the Daily Mirror: “Boateng can be whatever he wants. I’ve been absolutely delighted with that boy and I love his attitude.

“He’s a lovely lad – contrary to every picture painted to me – and I’ve tried to build the team into a shape which suits his performances because I want him to stay on the pitch.

“He’s been booted from pillar to post in the last three games but has never reacted and turned in quality performances.

“He heads it, he tackles, he runs, he’s got great ability. He’s come straight in, no questions, no baggage – just bang.

“What he’s needed is a bit of faith shown in him.”
