Portsmouth are set to reunite with Abu Kamara after agreeing a fee with Hull City for his return to Fratton Park.

Football Insider reports that final formalities remain before the 23-year-old returns. Their successful completion will make Kamara John Mousinho’s seventh signing of a busy summer.

The attacker is still popular after helping Pompey win the League One title in 2023-24. He scored 10 goals across 52 appearances during that loan spell.

Kamara later established himself at Hull, recording five goals in 37 outings the following campaign. However, last season’s loan at Getafe proved frustrating, with only one La Liga start and 248 minutes played.

Returning to Portsmouth offers familiarity and the chance to rediscover his most dangerous form. Mousinho already understands how to maximise Kamara’s pace, direct running and versatility.

For Pompey, the deal brings back a proven fan favourite entering his prime. For Kamara, it provides the platform required to restart a career that has recently lost momentum.
