Despite scoring regularly for his club, Harry Redknapp has never been totally convinced by the Russian and he has come close to leaving the club on more than one occasion.
Popov told Championat.ru: “Roman Pavlyuchenko is a top-class player. In the Russian championship he has (previously) scored goals consistently, plus he has a Russian passport. In addition he has played for the club. Therefore you can understand why we are interested.”
