Spurs boss felt his side deserved a draw

The game ended in a 1-1 draw following goals by Newcastle’s Fabricio Coloccini and Spurs ace Aaron Lennon.

Redknapp told Sky Sports: “I felt it would have been hard on us getting beat.

“I felt first half we played some great stuff, passed the ball well, had some good opportunities. Jermain had a great chance right on half time to put us one up.

“And then we conceded a goal, long crossfield ball that we didn’t deal with correctly and it cost us.

“And then we’re pushing everybody forward in the end – we were open to the counter-attack obviously when you push so many forward as we did, William Gallas was charging forward, Michael Dawson was back there on his own at times and when they counter-attacked us they were four against two at times.

“And then we went at them and they were hanging on for grim life at the other end, it was great.

“It must have been a great last 20 minutes for the fans to watch because it was end to end stuff with both teams slugging it out.

“But in the end I felt we deserved the equaliser.”
