The 26-year-old sustained the injury in the first half of the 2-0 win over Crystal Palace last weekend.
West Brom’s joint-assistant head coach Keith Downing told the club’s official website: “There is a big chunk of time now for him to get it right.
“But we’re disappointed because Billy’s played well and he’s been one of our best players.”
