The 20-year-old, who has been out with a back injury since joining United from Bordeaux in July, made his debut in the 2-0 Carling Cup victory against Barnsley this week.
He said: “Gabriel has done very well. He has the ability – there is no doubt about that.
“He has marvellous pace, which is always important in football today. He has overcome his injury, which is the most important thing.
“It means we are not worried about restrictions for the lad. We hope we have corrected the problem.”
