Abidal’s current contract is set to expire in the summer of 2012.
The former Lyon defender is reportedly ready to sign a two-year extension to his contract.
“I am very happy and I will sign a new contract with this fantastic club,” Abidal told Sky Sports.
“I am in good form at the moment, as are the whole team.
“We play the best football on the European continent and hopefully we can play like that all season.”
