Sky Sports News says the arrival of Flamini at Eastlands is imminent.
The reports says City boss Roberto Mancini wants to use Flamini at right-back instead of his usual position as a defensive central midfielder.
Flamini spent a four-year stint at Arsenal from 2004-2008.
