French striker Nicolas Anelka will miss the first leg of the quarter-final against the Reds.
Anelka is expected to be out of action for three weeks with a toe injury.
France coach Raymond Domenech has replaced Anelka with Guillaume Hoarau in the France squad.
“(Hoarau) replaces Nicolas Anelka, who is suffering from an injured left big toe and is out of action for three weeks,” the FFF said on their website.
