Wilshere is set to serve a three-match ban after being sent off for a challenge on Birmingham’s Nikola Zigic at the weekend.
“It looked to me a red card. We have no complaints,” Wenger said.
“Jack had an outstanding game, but his first touch let him down on that occasion. He did not want to harm the player but he caught him, so it is difficult to complain.”
Wenger added to BBC Sport: “We want him to stay with us because he was very influential in the game, reliable defensively and offensively, so it is a big loss.”
