Gerrard has admitted that there is a difference in his performance for club and country.
Barry said: “Steven’s a top footballer, one of the best in the world and he’s always going to be honest about his performances.
“The way I look at it, his performances for his club are at that level every week and he comes to play for England and the whole country expect that again, but it’s almost impossible to happen all the time.
“Steven knows as well as anyone that there’s pressure when you come to play for England.”
