Israel captain Benayoun will not feature for Chelsea’s weekend tie against Manchester City, but may return for his Israel’s Euro 2012 qualifiers at the end of march.
Israel manager Luis Fernandez added: “I have been in contact with him since his injury and I have heard about his progress.
“I know that Benayoun is not 100 per cent fit but he is the captain.
“It was sad to see him injured and just seeing him in the squad is very important.”
