Boyd is out of contract in the summer, but has been offered a new £18,000-a-week deal to extend his stay at Rangers.
“I asked the question of Rangers,” confirmed McLeish.
“But Walter Smith said he was going to keep everybody until the end of the season.
“There are other clubs in for him but we will pursue that avenue.”
