Allardyce is keen to bring Beattie back to the club and is ready to offer Jason Roberts to Stoke in a swap deal.
The Mirror says Allardyce is ready to take a gamble on Beattie, who has fallen out of favour with Stoke manager Tony Pulis due to a dressing room row.
Stoke are reportedly looking to recoup some of the £3.5million they spent on Beattie.
