The Blues impressed at Anfield despite conceding an early goal after Fernando Torres sent Liverpool in the lead.
“It’s a great result but it didn’t start very well for us,” he told Sky Sports.
“After a few minutes we were 1-0 down which was the last thing we wanted.
“But we had a great reaction, we could have scored straight after but we didn’t take our chances but Branislav [Ivanovic] scored from a set play and the second goal arrived at the best time possible.”
“It’s a great advantage,” added Cech.
“We knew before the game that we had to be positive, to make things happen to score a goal, we didn’t want to wait.
“We tried to make the things happen, we passed the ball well, kept organised and scored goals and that was the key.”
