The Guardian reports that the Blues made an opening bid of £4million for the midfielder, but the bid was rejected by Liverpool.
Liverpool are reportedly looking for around £6million for the 30-year-old.
“Ancelotti wants me for next season and now everything depends on Liverpool,” Benayoun said.
“Chelsea will have to pay some £6m, but I believe that, in the end, I’ll be moving there.”
