Chelsea striker set to miss World Cup

Drogba suffered the injury in the 2-0 friendly win over Japan in Switzerland on Friday.

Team spokesman Eric Kacou said: “It is a fracture in his right arm. The doctor hasn’t said yet whether he can play in the World Cup.”

Ivory Coast boss Sven Goran Erisson said before the injury was confirmed: “It’s an elbow injury but we don’t know how bad it is, we (are going) straight to the hospital.

“I think we should get an answer before we leave.

“If it’s serious, it’s very worrying, he is our captain, one of the best strikers in the world.”
