Kalou said: “I know that a lot of players who come here can face difficult times in their first season. It’s a very difficult experience and it takes time to adapt. ‘Didi’ deserves it. He’s worked very hard for two seasons to reach this level.
“He had some difficult times but now things are really working for him which I’m really happy about.
“When you’ve got that confidence, it’s a great position in which to be. You don’t have to try to do things – they just seem to come so much more naturally.
“But that’s football. It’s all about confidence. So many people were criticising him but now he is showing everyone what great quality he has.
“I hope he can keep playing like this for a long time as he is a huge strength for the club and can help us win a lot of trophies.”
