Moyes believes Jagielka can help solve England’s centre-back troubles.
“He’s done very well since he came back and he’s back up to the top level now,” said Moyes. “I would have thought he’ll be very close to making the England party.
“I think the England manager likes him and he’s quite fresh so I wouldn’t expect him to be too far away.
“But for his injury I think he’d have been certainty for the World Cup. He’s been very reliable for us.
“I see in the World Cup there being a lot of sharp, quick play around the box, and Jagielka is good at dealing with that and seeing danger early and with his last ditch defending.
“I’ve seen in the last week he’s really come on feeling good about himself.
“Usually when you come back after a bad injury there’s an initial high and then a bit of a dip before you’re yourself again.
“I think he’s now at that stage where he’s not worrying about his knee anymore and is stepping up.
“The manager has to get the right balance between those who he’s seen all season and those he may not have seen a lot but who are coming on strong now.
“I’m sure the England staff know all Jagielka’s qualities.
“The good thing for him is he can be versatile, although his best position is centre half.”
