Leeds United have added Independiente del Valle winger Emerson Pata to their summer shortlist, increasing the English interest surrounding the Ecuadorian attacker.
Ipswich Town and Sunderland are already monitoring him, although no club has made a formal move.
Ontheminute.com understands Leeds have begun tracking Pata as they consider ways to strengthen their attack before the deadline. The Whites are yet to decide whether to turn that interest into an offer, leaving the race at an early stage.
Pata’s breakout season is driving attention. The 22-year-old has registered eight goals and one assist in Ecuador’s LigaPro, while displaying the speed and direct running required to threaten from wide areas.
His versatility may also appeal to Leeds. Pata is most comfortable on the left but can operate elsewhere across the forward line, giving managers several ways to use him.
Independiente del Valle remain in control as three English clubs watch developments. A late offer could change the picture, but no decision is imminent.
