Heskey is in no rush

Heskey’s contract with Wigan expires at the end of the season.

Liverpool, Aston Villa and Tottenham have so far been linked with the England striker.

“Everyone knows my contract is up at the end of the season, but I have not made up my mind what happens then, that is the truth,” Heskey told the Wigan Evening Post.

“Who knows? Whether we sit down before the end of the season or at the end to discuss my future, I don’t know…we’ll see. What I will say is that this is a very progressive club.

“The chairman is very ambitious and he knows football and footballers, which is very helpful.

“He knows progress has to be steady and what he has achieved at this club is magnificent. I am really happy here and the club has been good for me, that I know.

“But I really don’t want to think too much ahead. I know there are loads of stories going around at the moment, but the point is I’m a Wigan player and my duty is to give 100% to the manager, to the team and the supporters. To do anything else would be disrespectful to the club.”
