D’Alessandro is currently playing for Brazilian side Internacional, but has previously played for Portsmouth.
Kinnear said: “We did not go directly to Brazil to see D’Alessandro but I looked at him 10 years ago and just saw this trip as a chance to see him again. I was impressed with his play, he has not lost anything even though he is 29, is a great player.
“Definitely [D’Alessandro] is on the list from 15 to 20 players who can come to our team and make a big difference.”
