Kaka won the award last year and this year it is expected to be between Cristiano Ronaldo and Messi.
“Messi deserves the Ballon d’Or,” Kaka told Spanish newspaper Sport.
“He is a real superstar. Ronaldo would also be a valid choice, but I see Messi as my successor.
“I admire Lionel’s ability and ball control. He is one of those players who you always want to have in your team.”
