Liverpool boss Benitez: Worst performance ever

Liverpool lost the match 0-1.

Benitez said: “I think it was probably the worst performance since I’ve been at the club, especially when you think we were at home.

“We created nothing. It was very bad. Everything was wrong and we gave the ball away. We couldn’t create chances and we were never controlling the game.

“We tried to change players and change positions but it didn’t work. The reason was simple — the whole team was playing bad.”

He added: “You cannot say anything about the supporters because we weren’t playing well from the beginning.

“If you expect something, you need to give them something.

“This is a time to be really disappointed, but then you have to put it behind you and look ahead to the next game.

“We need three points against Tottenham on Sunday then three points from our next Champions League match against Besiktas.”
