Liverpool defender Finnan: It was two points lost

He said: “It was definitely two points lost. It was a shame because we deserved to win.

“It’s bitterly disappointing and the lads were upset because we should have won.

“I’m very disappointed with how they got back into the game. Everyone has said it wasn’t a penalty and I couldn’t believe it.

“At the time he blew I thought it was for offside against Drogba at the far post or something. I certainly never thought it could have been a penalty.

“None of their players even appealed for it and their player just ran into me and went down, so it was very surprising when he gave it.

“It would have been great to have six points on the board from two games. Four points isn’t a bad start for us, but it should have been six.”
