Cattermole is reportedly ready to quit the Black Cats for Anfield after losing the captaincy at the Stadium of Light to new signing John O’Shea, according to the People.
Sunderland have already signed three new midfielders this summer in Craig Gardner, David Vaughan, David Meyler and Seb Larsson.
Liverpool have long been linked with a move for the highly-rated midfielder.
