Liverpool skipper Gerrard: I was right to snub Chelsea

Gerrard was on the verge of a move to Stamford Bridge but decided to stay with Liverpool and was accused by Chelsea boss Mourinho of lacking ambition to win trophies, says News of the World.

The Liverpool skipper said: “I always knew I made the right decision.

“Obviously a few people questioned that at the time. But I’ve been at this club since I was eight. I knew where I was welcome, I knew where I wanted to play my football.

“Luckily for me, everything’s turned out right.”
