The 29-year-old joined Newcastle from Schalke in January.
Lovenkrands deal with the Magpies expires in the summer.
He told TV2: “It is a great club to be in, and I hope that we stay up and that I can be a part of that.
“But you never know what will happen in the world of football – if they wish to keep me, or whatever will happen.”
