The Uruguayan, despite his brilliance, may be hampered by his unpopularity within the game, but he has certainly been the best player in the league this season.
Lucas told the Liverpool Echo: “Luis will certainly be challenging for that award.
“It has been such an amazing season for him. He has been scoring a lot of goals and showing everyone all the qualities he has.
“I just hope he wins because I think he deserves it after everything he has done this season.”
