The former Real Madrid and Newcastle striker has failed to make an impact since joining United on a free transfer in the summer.
United boss Sir Alex Ferguson will allow Owen to leave if he can find a club willing to offer him regular first-team action, according to the Sunday Mirror.
Owen has scored seven goals in the 26 appearances he has made for United.
