Arca told the Evening Gazette: “It’s my ambition to play for my country. Playing for your national team is right at the top.
“The club gives you the chance to play football and you then have to see if the national team wants you.
“The best thing for me is to keep working hard for Middlesbrough and see what happens.
“There are plenty of great players in Argentina. There are many good young ones playing in Europe.
“I hope that one day I will be given the chance but it is not my decision.”
