Newcastle United have reportedly joined West Ham and Tottenham in the race to sign Genoa forward Albert Gudmundsson this summer.

Genoa’s refusal to let Albert Gudmundsson join Fiorentina in the January transfer window sets the stage for a summer transfer frenzy.

Italian outlet Gazzetta dello Sport reports that the Icelandic forward has caught the eye of Serie A heavyweights Juventus and Inter Milan, along with Premier League clubs Newcastle, Tottenham, and West Ham.

With stellar performances expected to continue, retaining Gudmundsson seems an insurmountable task for Genoa, despite their initial reluctance to sell in January, citing financial stability from Dragusin’s move to Tottenham.

A £24 million offer from Fiorentina was already turned down, hinting at a hot market come summer.
