The Magpies will make a £6million move for Huddlestone, if they manage to stay in the Premier League.
The England Under-21 international has been recommended to Toon manager Joe Kinnear by his assistant Chris Hughton.
Hughton worked closely with Huddleston as Martin Jol’s assistant at White Hart Lane.
Everton, Fulham and Hamburg have also expressed an interest in the 22-year-old.
