The Evening Chronicle reports that the Magpies could make a move to bring the striker back to St James’ Park on loan.
But sources at the club have ruled out a possible return for Carroll during the January transfer window.
Carroll has failed to make the expected impact at Anfield since joining Liverpool from Newcastle last January.
