Sturridge could cost Chelsea £6.5m

A Professional Football Compensation Committee hearing has ruled that Chelsea must pay £3.5million for the 19-year-old, but that could rise to £6.5million.

Sturridge joined Chelsea from Manchester City last summer after having run down his contract at Eastlands.

“We are content with the outcome of today’s tribunal regarding Daniel Sturridge’s transfer from Manchester City,” a statement from Chelsea read.

“The initial fee is very close to what we first offered.

“Any subsequent payments are directly linked to the success of the player and that is satisfactory to us.”
