West Ham boss in firing line with FA

Jones, who took charge of West Ham’s 2-1 defeat by Stoke in last weekend’s FA Cup quarter-final, was branded “weak” by Grant, who said after the game:

“I think maybe [Piquionne’s goal] is the reason the referee started the second half very, very strangely. Until they scored the goal [by Higginbotham], he gave fouls and penalties, everything for them. But it was a penalty for us at the end and he didn’t give it. Maybe he felt a little bit weak.”

The FA charge can result in a fine, touchline ban or official warning, although Grant is yet to decide whether to accept or fight the verdict.
