The Hammers held a board meeting last night and decided to offer Zola the job instead of Roberto Donadoni.
A West Ham spokesman said: “We’ve had a detailed and positive discussion and expect to make an announcement very shortly.”
Zola could bring with him former Chelsea team-mate Pierluigi Casiraghi as his assistant.
