Toni is keen to win the Serie A scoring crown this season after returning to Italian footballfrom Bayern Munich.
“It would have been nice to go to South Africa last summer, but I have to respect the decisions of the Coach,” he said.
“For the time being, [new boss Cesare] Prandelli is working with youngsters for the future of the national side.
“I just hope to score so many goals with Genoa that I can re-launch my candidacy for the squad. Prandelli has my phone number.”
