On boxing day, what was dubbed as a game between title rivals finished in a 4-0 mauling of Leicester at the King Power Stadium.

The game looked like a potential banana skin for Jurgen Klopp’s team. However, the Reds strolled to victory with ease, in the end, to move 13 points clear at the top of the table.

Competing on all fronts

Liverpool boss Klopp is adept at rotating his squad. The Reds will be hoping to still challenge on all fronts in the new year. Obviously, with such a big lead in the Premier League, it seems that nobody will stop the Merseysider’s winning their first English league title in close to three decades.

However, Klopp will need to get his squad rotation right if his team are to keep competing on all fronts. They have scraped through some games this season, but have turned up in the most important ones.

Avoiding big injuries the key

Liverpool have shown in recent seasons that they do have decent strength in depth, especially in attack. Belgian striker Divock Origi has proven to be a very good backup option to the Reds fearsome front three of Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino.

However, they do not have such quality in defence. If Dutch centre-back Virgil van Dijk were injured, Klopp’s team would like struggle defensively, as he is such a massive player at the back for the Reds.

Liverpool have the capability to be invincible in the top-flight

In the Premier League era, only Arsenal in 2003/04 have gone unbeaten for a whole season. It is difficult to see any team defeating the Merseysider’s this season in the top-flight.

Klopp’s team have built up such momentum and winning has become a welcome habit. Only time will tell if Liverpool can remain invincible in the Premier League, but it would take a brave man to back against the league leaders achieving that particular goal.
