Liverpool would be the wrong move for Werner

After scoring the only goal of the game in a 1-0 win at Tottenham in the Champions League on Wednesday night, Werner revealed he was proud to be linked with a move to the Reds.

Werner is one of Europe’s best striker

At 23 years old, the world is Werner’s oyster. The Germany international has been fine form this season registering nearly a goal a game in the Bundesliga to raise his profile even higher than it was before.

However, in truth, he would get in a lot of Europe’s best teams. Prolific forwards are now rare in football and every team is looking for a goal-getter. The forward has been linked with a number of top clubs in the Premier League.

Would not be first-choice at Liverpool

While it is true that Werner would get into most teams in Europe, Liverpool are probably one of the few where he would not be a first-choice starter. Liverpool’s front three of Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane are unmovable objects when fit.

They are very rarely injured either. Therefore, Werner would find himself struggling for game time on Merseyside. His massive talent would be wasted sitting on the Anfield bench.

Won’t necessarily move on this summer

There are many speculating over where Werner will move next. However, the forward only signed a new deal with Leipzig earlier this season. As we all know contracts mean very little these days.

However, he had the chance to leave as a free agent this summer but instead chose to sign a new deal in Leipzig. With Die Roten Bullen serious contenders for the Bundesliga title, Werner may just decide that he will stay with Nagelsmann’s team for another season at least.
