Scholes has been out of action since the Champions League away win over AaB Aalborg in September with a medial ligament damage.
“We are pencilling Paul in for the week before the Japan trip,” Ferguson said in the Manchester Evening News.
“He is doing very well and kicking the ball and doing straight running.”
