Mourinho is looking forward to face Fergie and Manchester United in the last 16 of the Champions League.
He said: “Alex still wants to win and you can see that on the touchline. I am pretty sure I will not have that energy when I am his age.
“His teams still have his energy, but also with his experience, and I think that is starting to show in the players.
“I have said this is the sort of tie I wanted. Manchester United are still for me maybe the best team in the world.
“To win your domestic league and the European Cup in the same season is where everybody wants to be and that is what we are trying to do this season.
“I have said things about Sir Alex and he has said things about me, but we both know we are two of the best managers in the world and there is respect there.”
