The Reds were planning to move from Anfield to a new stadium in Stanley Park in 2010.
But Liverpool owners George Gillett and Tom Hicks have put the massive £490million project on hold.
“Construction will begin when the global financial markets re-establish their equilibrium,” Liverpool managing director Christian Purslow said in The Sun.
