Kolo confident of City success

Toure joined City from Arsenal this summer.

Toure said: “Before Roman Abramovich went to Chelsea they were a decent team. But they were not winning major trophies and were not one of the most feared sides in Europe.

“The Chelsea revolution was not that long ago really.

“But look at where they are now and look at what they have won in the last five or six years.

“That has to be our ambition at City. We want to be the next Chelsea, but more successful.

“It is Manchester City’s ambition to go from a mid-table team to winning the Premier League and Champions League – and, as captain, I want to be a major player who helps them do it.

“People have their own ideas why top players join Manchester City.

“But I came to just win trophies. That’s it – and I know that goes for all the other players who have joined.”

He added: “Our challenge is to go as far as we can in the Premier League.

“Can we overtake Arsenal? Well, it’s possible if we maintain our current level and we steer clear of injuries.

“Ever since I arrived at Arsenal I have played in Europe. This season it won’t happen with City but I am convinced it will next season.”
