Spurs striker would prefer return to Russia

The 27-year-old is expected to leave Spurs in January after failing to make an impact since joining the club in a £13.8million deal in 2008.

Roma have long been linked witha move for the Russian striker.

“I have a huge desire to return home. I am prepared to accept any decent offer from Russia,” Pavlyuchenko told a Russian magazine, according to Sky Sports.

“It seems Tottenham is now a turned page for me. I don’t expect the situation to change for the better. Six months ago, I landed on the bench. I immediately made it clear I did not want to be there.

“The manager kept saying he relied on me, but nothing changed. I need to find a way out of this.”
