Fergie hailed the performance of his centre-backs Wes Brown and Nemanja Vidic in the game.
“It was a good performance, that’s the important thing, and when you get a good performance and you get the goals you get the bonus and I’m very pleased,” Ferguson told Sky Sports.
“With Vidic and Brown back it makes a tremendous difference to the team and the balance, the composure and the stability at the back. It was fantastic.
“I think the key is we are getting defenders back. If we get them all back we’ll be a much better team.”
The Scot added: “We had some chances. We hit the bar, had one shot cleared off the line and hit the post, but all-in-all I’m happy with five.”
