New City boss Roberto Mancini is reportedly keen on signing the Frenchman in the January transfer window.
Mancini signed Vieira when he was in charge of the Nerazzurri.
Inter Milan boss Jose Mourinho has admitted that he expect Vieira to leave the club in January.
Mourinho told reporters: “I think they are very slim.”
